Fast Profiling Sensor from Omron

-- Product News, 11 June 2008

The ZG two-dimensional profiling sensor from Omron Electronics examines entire shapes by measuring the X and Y axes in a single pass, and can measure up to four items simultaneously for in-line inspection at full production speed.
A real-time profile display on the controller’s built-in LCD monitor and simple set-up enable the ZG sensor to both reduce hardware costs and deliver profile data at a fraction of the cost of other solutions, claims Omron.
With guided set-up menus and 18 built-in measuring tools, the laser can be configured to gauge height, 2- and 3- point step, edge position, edge width, angle and area, and perform comparative calculations between measurements. A range of sensing heads capture profiles from 3mm to 70mm wide using a visible laser.
