Nippon Pulse Motor has released a single-axis control chip, PCD2112. The PCD2112 motion control chip is a 7mm x 7mm molded package 48-pin QFP.
With Serial Peripheral Interface Bus (SPI) interface, small size and ability to operate with or without CPU, the company claims that the PCD2112 can be easily integrated into controller board. The PCD2112 can be used with a low-cost CPU or it can be used without a CPU as a standalone controller.
Features of the PCD2112 are: servo interface(in-position, CLR deviation counter); external pulse input function; ability to change speed on the fly; maximum output pulse frequency of 2.4M pulse per sec; encoder input(A, B and index); and S-curve/Linear acceleration/deceleration.
Applications for this product are semiconductor manufacturing and inspection equipment, robots, analyzers, and automatic handling equipment.
